Scientists Discover Fidelity Gene, Are You Or Your Partner At Risk?

For the first time, scientists have discovered a direct link between a man's genes and his statistical potential for infidelity, and sadly about 40% of all men carry this gene variant. This may explain why women in relationships with men possessing this characteristic are more likely to rate their relationship as unsatisfactory.
The findings of behavioral geneticist, led by Hasse Walum, at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm indicate that Men have a higher chance of being loyal and devoted husbands when they lack a specific variant of a gene that has been shown to influence brain activity.
Men were the subject of this research because the hormone being examined was known to play a larger role in their population group than in women's brains. "Men with two copies of the allele had twice the risk of experiencing marital dysfunction, with a threat of divorce during the last year, compared to men carrying one or no copies."
The story was originally carried in the Washington Post, but is slowly developing wider circulation not only among scientist , but among the general population.

HI Jeff,I guess when the scientist did this study, they failed to remember that just as many woman have affairs as men do. I also believe that this will give some men the excuse for cheating and use it to do so. I believe some studies should not be published, this might just be one that shouldn't have been. Wow Jeff!So let me guess, it's not their fault they were born that way? I am not surprised that science has found another good excuse. What about the women???You know my history, sadly I have had a lot of experience with married women, and I know that men are not the only people that cross the road. It does make some since to me that some people seem to have a predisposition towards alcohol and perhaps there is something to this gene. I will not be surprised if they discover that women with a particular gene, lean the same way as men in this study. Jeff, thanks for posting this. Let me add one vital piece. Today science has discovered that human thoughts and feelings actually program the DNA. It is a reflection not a blueprint. This explains a great deal.For thousands of years men have thought about other women and felt a desire for them. Even though they may not have taken action the thoughts and feelings were real. This energy caused the DNA to produce a gene to reflect this. It did. To think the DNA was designed in to cause us to be this way is old thinking.
